I’ve spent the end of last week in the most southern part of Spain, in the province and city (both) called Almería. I must admit that I was hoping for a somewhat more vibrant city, but it’s still spring there and the action is just around the corner.

What did take me aback, was the beautiful surroundings that were packed with dynamism and contrast. Imagine having beaches, volcanic mountains and desserts all in 30 minutes drive from one another. My guide told me that skiing was even fully possible during spring about 2 hours drive away. No wonder the area has been used in numerous films in the past (Indiana Jones, tons of westerns and Conan the Barbarian among others).

I’ve been particularly active with my camera on this trip, trying to practice my skills. Hope you like it!

For the latest issue of RES, we had the pleasure to visit a number of ecological hotels around Europe. Five of these are presented (among them the fantastic Vigilius Mountain Resort mentioned here previously), and are a combo of great design, service and sustainability.

Also in this issue is a guide to the (more) affordable, budget-style restaurants of chefs such as Tomas Keller, Heston Blumenthal and Ferran Adriá. An intervju with travel guru Sara Henrichs of Wallpaper* was also conducted a few months ago, and in RES she reveals her personal favorites around the globe.

We just received images from the secret members club in one of the suites in Story Hotel in Stockholm. The member card is an electronic key, and arrives to the chosen ones in a round, black box. Take a good look, this is probably as close to Apt 606 as most of us will ever get.
