The weekend was fun but lazy and relaxing. Micha and I had friends from out of town staying with us. Spent the majority of the time chatting, eating and drinking wine. One outing to Copenhagen took place though. In all honesty, most of the time I was on the look out for eateries. This is no laughing matter in Copenhagen. First you have to locate something in your taste, then you have to wait a loooong time in most places before a waiter or maitr’d acknowledges your presence. Then, you have to find out if they accept credit cards as a method of payment. You see, in Denmark, foreign cards are always looked upon with great suspicion. If you are a holder of a DanKort (Dan Card-a domestic card obtainable only by distinguished citizens of Denmark) it’s usually open sesame! Well, I know a place that caters to most of my needs as far as a quick bite, paid for with my foreign card.

Café Dan Turell serves an excellent burger in a pleasantly busy and noisy environment. Usually a wait for a table if arriving between 12 noon and 2 PM on a weekend.
First stop though, was the Montana show room. Our friends Lars and Aron are in the market for some bookcases and are looking into the Montana brand. High quality, Danish design cubes that can be combined and put together in virtually any shape. Lot’s of colors to choose from, sleek design and painfully expensive!

Continued to browse Birger Christensen store, checking out the fall/winter Prada shoes, and I spent a few moments staring at a briefcase that I have coveted for two years, but never found a practical reason to buy it.

Reputable eatery - not yet sampled. Do they accept credit cards...?

Went on to pay Illums Bolighus a visit. Shopped around for some Christmas ornaments and also some props for a photo shoot next week. Covered the men’s clothing section at Magasin du Nord, a department store that has been stuck in the 80’s and has felt staid and humdrum –not unlike Neiman Marcus (ok, I haven’t been in there in over a year) in San Francisco. But has finally gotten with it and changed into a modern and bright experience.
